D'nish

We caught up with RD Smith, Owner of D’nish e-liquids and VP of Vapun Magazine to get his personal story behind the juice. RD is an established and well respected member of the vaping community, as well as a leader in the industry.

Q. What was your inspiration to start making e-liquid?

A. I started smoking in 1996 in basic training. I have no idea why I thought that was a good time to start, I guess everyone was doing it. I smoked Newports for 16 years. I tried to quit multiple times with patches, gums, and inhalers that the Army would give me and meanwhile, cigarettes were $4 per pack cheaper on post than anywhere else. In August 2014 a friend sent me a clone stingray and clone TOBH. I tried to like it, but dripping was messy and I coughed a lot. I later bought a clone 'Kayfun' at a local shop. The ease of having a tank and 1 ohm build worked much better. 12 nicotine 'Gentleman's Reserve' from Steam Co. was my first juice buy, and from there I was hooked.  My son was due in October, and I really wanted to quit before he was born. I haven't smoked a cigarette since the day I got the Kayfun. Once I realized vaping helped me to quit when nothing else had, I thought about all the lives I could impact if I made e-liquid people would buy, enjoy, and use to quit and stay off cigarettes.

Q. How long have you been in the industry?

A. Steadfast was born at the end of September 2014 and we landed our first shop, Vapology 101, in Herndon, VA in October 2014 and we haven't looked back at our software jobs since.

Q.What sets you apart from other companies?

A. There are so many good companies, good liquids, and good people in this industry. What I think sets us apart is our drive to do things to the best of our ability, to do things the right way with our lab and our manufacturing practices. We prove our commitment to building relationships with every single shop that carries us, by driving all over the country in my little van. We’re determined to be one of the brands that are in this for the long haul, and not just out to make a quick buck.

Q. What is your favorite flavor?

A. My favorite flavor is 'Tradewinds'. I developed that flavor 3 years ago, a peach guava medley. I literally have vaped 30 mls-a-day, religiously, since I made it. Ask anyone what RD vapes and the response will always be 'Tradewinds.' It has also been a best seller for Steadfast since its launch; I am not sure if that is just coincidence or not. I never leave the house without it and I panic when I don't have enough. I am definitely a comfort/habit vapor. 40 watts on a .3 ohm coil with 'Tradewinds.' all day - every day!

Q. Any new and exciting plans for your company?

A. We always have something cooking, including many products developed prior to the August 8th deadline that haven’t been promoted yet. We will continue to grow and expand steadily, and I encourage everyone to follow along and share the experience with us, getting to do what we love.
